Welcome to CompuSniff

Sniff Magnitude Device CompuSniff developed and is validating the Sniff Magnitude Test, a device that is used to assess an individual’s sense of smell. Loss of the sense of smell may be an indicator of exposure to harmful chemicals or an early warning sign for the onset of certain diseases. The Sniff Magnitude Test can be used to provide quality controls for commercial tasters and sniffers. The test is based upon research originally conducted at the University of Cincinnati. CompuSniff received its first product order in May 2003.

The Sniff Magnitude Test has potential commercial and industrial applications. For example, the test can be used to qualify assessors and panelists for sensory evaluation tests, especially for work in quality assurance and product formulation. It may also be useful in situations where an olfactory response measure is needed that does not require people to classify, name or rate stimuli. This can be an advantage when the panelists are diverse or there are concerns about stimulus scaling or classification biases.
